A global computer giant has recently highlighted the importance of providing additional social space for employees by investing in a 420m2 timber decked terrace at its Berkshire office.

Constructed by Jacksons Fencing the maintenance-free Decking terrace is arranged over three levels with connecting stairs and a garden balustrade perimeter and has been built using heavy-duty decking boards, specially designed and engineered to hold up to 1,000 people at any one time.

Due to specialised fitting techniques the garden decking was completed within four weeks, resulting in minimal disruption to the client and enabling all staff to enjoy the company’s new outdoor space during the mild autumn weather.

As a nation that spends on average 40 hours a week in a working environment, it’s important that employees are provided with appropriate conditions in which they can thrive.  One way to enhance this is through investing in an additional social area.

Technical information
For this particular project Jacksons Fencing Balustrade style 2 was used.  The pre-assembled panels system comprises turned vertical spindles 40mm x 40mm, which fit between two horizontal rails 70mm x 55mm, spaced 100mm apart with specially formed 40mm x 30mm ‘T’ section spacers.  The balustrade panels were capped with a 120mm x 21mm top for added strength and finish.

All decking boards are guaranteed for 25 years against rot and insect attack, using Jacksons Fencing’s own Jakcure process.  This unique preservative process penetrates deep into the heart of the wood, providing lasting protection enabling Jacksons Fencing to provide a 25-year guarantee on all Jakcured timber.
